Die Entfernung vom Flughafen zu unserem Apartment in „Navi Mumbai“ betrug ca. 25km.
Das Taxi benötigte für diese Strecke gute 2 Stunden.
Einerseits war dies dem hohen Verkehrsaufkommen geschuldet, zum anderen glänzte unser Taxi-Fahrer durch Ortsunkenntnis und Schlafattacken.
Doch zum Glück erwartete uns ein sauberes, leerstehendes Apartment, dass uns ein Freund aus Dubai zur Verfügung stellte.
Vom Balkon des vierten Stockwerks, blickten wir auf den Stadtteil „Vashi“. Dies bedeutete konkret:
Im Bau befindliche Mehrfamilienhäuser, Bauarbeiter-Slums, kleine enge Sträßchen (in denen von Telefonkarten bis zu Fleischresten alles angeboten wurde) eine Menge Unrat und viel buntes Volk. Vor allem Kinder…
Hier konnten Lea, Julien und ich das „echte Leben“ der Bevölkerung hautnah miterleben, was natürlich auch bedeutete landestypisch zu Essen. Während eines Mahls, in einer der kleinen Garküchen wurden dann Worte gesprochen wie:
„ Boah, is das scharf, ich glaub ich schmelze“
Oder
„ Ich habe gerade Ratte Nummer 5 gezählt“

From the balcony of the fourth floor, we looked at the district "Vashi". This meant in concrete terms:
Multi-family homes under construction, labor-slums, small narrow streets (in which was offered anything like phone cards to leftover meat) a lot of filth and much colorful people.
Especially children...
In this area, Lea, Julien and I could get an experience of the "real life" of the population. Which meant of course: To eat local style. During a meal, in one of the small food stalls then words were spoken as:
